KABALE: The Kabale Municipality Councilor has today 25th April 2024 held a special sitting to pay a tribute to the fallen former Kabale Municipality Mayor, the late Dr. Pius Ruhemurana.
Dr. Pius Ruhemurana 76 was pronounced dead at around 2am on Wednesday this week from Rugarama Hospital in Kabale Municipality, who succumbed to complications of a stroke.
Presiding over a special session to honor the late, the Kabale Municipality Speaker Byamukama Deogratias said that the fallen Medical Doctor Pius Ruhemurana made a significant contribution to the development of Kabale Municipality.
Kabale Municipality Mayor Byamugisha Sentaro, acknowledged the late as a friend to many, recognizing his profound impact on the development of Kabale Municipality.
Mayor Sentaro added that Kabale Municipality and the entire Kabale district at large have lost a remarkable individual who made substantial contributions not only in politics but also in health.
Several LC IV Councilors, including Anteri Twahirwa, Joweria Kakokoza, and Izongoza Margret, lauded the late mayor as a mentor, a supporter of government initiatives, and a unifier of religions in Kigezi Sub Region.
Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Nicholas Thaddaeus Kamara, described the late mayor as an influential figure who persuaded him to enter politics.
He added that the late Dr. Pius Ruhemurana was a great leader, he was a pillar in Forum for Democratic Change (FDC a pillar in the Church, a pillar in Kigezi Sub Region whose legacy will keep to be remembered.
The late Dr. Pius Ruhemurana will be laid to rest tomorrow Friday at his residence in Kashumuruzo cell, Kitanga Parish, Kashambya sub-county in Rukiga district.
